Disclaimer and Scope of Wellness Discussions
The Wellness Roundtable is a peer-driven space where members help members, with no participant acting as a medical expert (unlike the expert-led presentations in the larger Health Wellness Club meetings). Discussions focus on wellness activities and preventive approaches, many of which are not FDA approved and based on personal experience rather than formal research. Members are encouraged to take responsibility for their health decisions, conduct independent research, and consult healthcare professionals before making changes.
Nicotine Patches Brief Discussion
The nicotine patches segment was a concise overview of the methods and health benefits and potential for risks (mainly potential for addiction). We were not discussing it as a tool for smoking cessation. We were discussing the emerging research on cognitive and anti-inflammatory benefits, and the ubiquity of nicotine receptors in the human body. Nightshade vegetables were noted for their nicotine content and debated role in inflammation. The group welcomed further input, pointing to Dr. Ryan Artis as an outspoken leader in this field, and maintained a learning-focused, non-promotional atmosphere.
Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) Product Disclosure Discussion
The group discussed the need for transparency regarding MLM products and business interests. A member raised the question of implementing a disclosure rule, and members agreed that full disclosure is essential to maintain trust. Examples included ASEA and LifeWave, with all affirming her commitment to unbiased information sharing. Suggestions included establishing a formal disclosure rule and separating sales activities from official meetings. The club’s integrity as a space for health and wellness education was prioritized, with unresolved questions about practical enforcement and handling implied interests.
Speaker Motivation and Club Values
Speakers and members emphasized honesty and transparency, distinguishing between educational sharing and promotional activity. Motivations centered on sharing knowledge, personal experiences, and scientific insights, not sales. The club values education over promotion, encouraging “n=1 studies” and referencing expert opinions. Information sharing and community building are prioritized, with invitations for members to lead sessions and contribute unique perspectives. The club maintains clear boundaries against promotional activities, fostering an environment of curiosity, self-improvement, and mutual support.
Member Experiences and Personal Wellness Journeys
Members shared diverse personal wellness journeys, driven by a desire to learn and connect rather than business interests. Stories included caregiving for family, using home urine tests, addressing brain fog and inflammation, and experimenting with nicotine patches for long COVID symptoms. Cold plunge and sauna practices, HIIT and Zone 2 training, and experiences with fitness trackers were discussed, highlighting both benefits and challenges. The movement toward technology withdrawal and low dopamine living was explored, along with the practice of dead hangs for grip strength and longevity. The club environment was described as supportive and inclusive, with transparency about product use and a clear boundary against MLM sales pitches. Members are encouraged to lead future meetings and share their unique research interests.
